GCU Merit Calculator
The GCU Merit Calculator or Aggregate Formula is used by Government College University (GCU) Lahore to determine the eligibility of candidates for admission to various programs. The formula combines the scores from different stages of selection, such as previous academic qualifications and the entry test results.
-
Intermediate (F.A/F.Sc/I.Com) or Equivalent Qualification: This usually accounts for 60% of the total aggregate.
-
Entry Test: The entry test typically contributes 40% to the final aggregate.
The combined score from these two components determines the merit ranking of applicants for admission to programs like BS, MS, etc.
To calculate the aggregate:
-
Multiply the marks obtained in Intermediate (or equivalent) by 0.60.
-
Multiply the marks from the entry test by 0.40.
-
Add the two values together to get the total aggregate.
For example:
-
If a candidate scores 850 out of 1100 in Intermediate and 60 out of 100 in the entry test:
-
(850/1100) * 60 = 46.36% from Intermediate
-
(60/100) * 40 = 24% from the Entry Test
-
Total aggregate = 46.36% + 24% = 70.36%
-
This total aggregate will then determine the student’s position in the merit list.
